Money Matters Workshop

Dear Tomales High parents,

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and are looking forward to the upcoming Spring break. The third quarter grading period closed last week and I invite each of you to log into Aeries, our student information system, to access your child’s latest progress report.  Progress report grades provide teachers with an opportunity to communicate your students progress and mastery towards a specific course.

In addition and in order to encourage and support academic excellence, SUSD requires that students earn a minimum 2.0 or C average on a progress report in order to participate in extra/co-curricular activities. This is an important benchmark for you and your child to be aware of as there are many important enrichment field trips and activities planned this Spring and we want every student to be able to participate.

Finally, Spring also marks a time for a variety of proficiency assessments here at Tomales High School. THS will be administering the English Language Proficiency Assessments to our Second Language Learners, the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) to all Grade 11 students after the break, and Advanced Placement Testing in early May.

It promises to be a busy Spring as we near the end of the school year!

Go Braves,

Don Drake

Interim Principal

On Wednesday March 27th, 11th grade students had the opportunity to participate in a Money Matters event held by 10,000 Degrees. Money Matters: Budgeting for College Workshop is an interactive financial aid literacy curriculum. Students juggled set budgets and flexible pricing for college-related expenses, including books, transportation, electronics, and housing. Students rotated between 9 tables — and are challenged to make difficult budgeting decisions. Students walked away with the learning that college is affordable, all while having fun and interacting with volunteers from different academic and career journeys.

The state of California has extended the Priority financial aid deadline to May 1, 2024. If you or your student still needs support with completing the FAFSA or CADA application, please contact Ms. Kobe to set up an appointment.
