Hi all,

I wanted to update you all as to the status of administrative leadership at Tomales High School for the upcoming fall.  Unfortunately, our principal John McGurke is still unable to return to work full time as he is still recovering from post concussion symptoms.  As a result, I have enlisted the support of Nancy Neu and David Sondheim to serve as co-Interim Principals for the fall semester, or until John is able to return to work full time.

Nancy has a great deal of experience with Tomales High School and Shoreline Unified.  She was the interim principal at Tomales High School before I began, and has twice served as the interim superintendent for SUSD.  Before working with SUSD, she was the principal of Redwood High School in Larkspur for 12 years.

David Sondheim was also the principal at Redwood High School for 11 years, retiring in June of 2022.  Prior to being the principal, he worked as an assistant principal supporting Nancy when she was the principal.  David also worked as a science and computer science teacher for 23 years.

Nancy and David have a long history of working closely together to lead high functioning high school programs.  They bring with them experience, a high level of skill in managing effective communication, and most importantly, stability.  Furthermore, they are looking forward to working with all of you to get THS back on track after a sometimes challenging spring semester.

We are finalizing their schedule for the fall semester, but for the most part, they will be trading off days on campus, in order to maximize their availability to THS.  They understand the need for a clearly defined administrative structure, and will organize their schedules and communications to support that need.

Tomales High School is a special place that thrives on the support of an incredible community of students, staff, and families.  I have no doubt that Nancy and David will honor the work that we have all invested into our school, and help us move forward into the 2023-2024 school year in the best interest of our students.

In community,

Adam Jennings
