WELCOME TO TOMALES HIGH SCHOOL,
a California Distinguished School.
PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE 5/23/16
Let the celebration of the class of 2016 begin! On Wednesday, May 25th at 7pm we will hold our annual Senior Awards Night in the Tomales High School Gym. Each year our local community gives away hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarships to Tomales High School students to use in pursuit of their post-graduate education. Our kids work tirelessly in the winter and early spring to complete their scholarship applications and interviews, and on Wednesday they will be recognized and supported for their efforts. Furthermore, each department at THS will recognize a student for his or her outstanding academic achievement during his or her career at Tomales High. Always a classy and well-attended event, our Senior Awards Night is our first step towards graduation, an evening to celebrate the accomplishments of our students and the support of our community.
Following up on Friday is our annual Senior Trip. Under the watchful eye of Senior Class Advisors Fred Gilardi and Ellen Webster, our class of 2016 will embark on an adventure to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk for the second-to-last Friday as a high school student. To attend, seniors must have completed their Senior Project, recorded all of their community service hours, and be on track to graduate.
The last couple of weeks in May usually serve as a time for field trips and fun activities, after State and AP testing, but before we settle back down for finals. Beginning next Tuesday, we will tighten back up for Dead Week, in preparation for finals, and our last eight days of school.
This week’s Academic Vocabulary:
1. Marginal: adjective: barely exceeding the minimum requirements
2. Focal: adjective: having central or great importance
3. Ethical: adjective: involving questions of right and wrong behavior
Have a great thirty-eighth week of school, Adam Jennings, Principal
